!st Annual Hobson City Founder's Day Heritage Bike Ride - Saturday - August 15, 2015
Hobson City was established on August 16, 1899 and is the oldest African-American established city in the State of Alabama and the 3rd oldest incorporated African-American city in the U.S.A.
We are planning a ride in Hobson City to celebrate the anniversary with the city, it's dignitaries and residents.
Alabama is on Central Standard Time. The times that are listed are Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) for Georgia locations and Central
Standard Time (CST) for Alabama locations.
7:30am (EDT) - Meet at Silver Comet Cycles (Bike Depot -Silver Comet Trail) - 4342 Floyd Rd., Mableton, Ga. 30126.
Organize the carpool for the drive to Oxford, Alabama.
8:00am (EDT) - Depart (driving individual cars or carpool)
Destination - Books-A-Million - 900 Quintard Ave., Oxford AL, 36203 (80.5 miles away from Silver Comet Cycles)
8:15am (CST) - Arrive at the Books-A-Million parking lot where we will park.
8:30am (CST) - Jimmy will meet us and we will cycle to J.R. Striplin Park in Hobson City (1.5 miles away).
9:00am (CST) - Arrive at J.R. Striplin Park - 715 MLK JR. Dr., Hobson City, AL 36201. Atiba and Jimmy will review the various responsibilities and roles that MACC members will assume to support this small town ride.
9:30am (CST) - Begin the Hobson City Founder's Day Heritage 10K Bike Ride. After the 10K ride we will cycle to the Chief Ladiga Trail for an out-and-back ride on the trail. The pace and distance (maybe 30-40 miles) will be determined by the the participants.
1:00pm (CST) - Lunch - Cheaha Brewing Company - 1208 Walnut Ave., Anniston, AL 36201 - 256-770-7300
2:00pm (CST) - Depart (driving) for Silver Comet Cycles in Mableton
4:00pm (EST) - Arrive at the Silver Comet Cycles in Mableton.
All times are estimates and are subject to change based on the occurring events of the day. Those with time constraints could possibly grab lunch on the go and return to Atlanta by 1:00pm (EST).

Mayors, representatives, dignitaries, along with youth groups from Hobson City and neighboring cities and states are expected to attend. MACC's efforts and involvement will have regional impact.
